Privacy Policy

Your saved weather history stays on your device. We don’t sell your data, and Weather Diary doesn’t show ads.

Effective July 18, 2026

Your privacy matters.

Weather Diary uses your location to request weather information from Apple services. It also uses RevenueCat for subscriptions and PostHog for product analytics. Your saved weather history is not uploaded to our own servers or shared with analytics services.

1. Introduction

This privacy policy applies to the Weather Diary app (“Application”) for iOS devices, created by Baran Toppare (“Service Provider,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Application.

2. Information we collect

Location data

What we collect: Approximate or precise location information, depending on your iOS location settings.

How we use it: To fetch current weather data from Apple WeatherKit and display your city name through Apple MapKit.

Storage: We do not store a location history. Location information is used to make weather and city-name requests and is not intentionally retained by us after a request completes.

Frequency: Location may be accessed when you open the app and during background refresh attempts controlled by iOS.

Weather data

The Application automatically collects and stores weather observations locally on your device, including:

Weather data is stored in a local SQLite database using GRDB. Your saved weather history is not uploaded by us to our own servers. The app sends requests to Apple services only as needed to provide weather and location-based features.

Purchase and subscription data

We use Apple’s in-app purchase system and RevenueCat to validate subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat may process device and operating-system information, Apple receipts and purchase history, subscription status, usage timestamps, IP address, and app-specific identifiers.

RevenueCat does not receive your saved weather history or precise GPS location from us. This information is used to manage subscription access and entitlements.

3. How we use information

4. Data storage and security

Your weather history is stored locally in the Application Support directory using SQLite. It remains on your device, is protected by iOS app sandboxing, and may be included in device backups depending on your iOS settings. Local app data is removed when you delete the app, subject to your backup and restore settings.

PostHog stores analytics data according to its privacy policy. RevenueCat processes subscription data using its service infrastructure. Neither service receives your saved weather history from us.

5. Third-party services

Apple WeatherKit

Used to fetch current weather information for your location and subject to Apple’s privacy policy.

Apple MapKit

Used for reverse geocoding, which converts coordinates into a city name for display, and subject to Apple’s privacy policy.

RevenueCat

RevenueCat processes subscription and purchase information on our behalf to determine which features you can access. This may include device information, receipts, purchase history, subscription status, usage timestamps, IP address, and an app-specific identifier.

RevenueCat does not receive your saved weather history or precise GPS location from us. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

PostHog

PostHog helps us understand how people use Weather Diary. We may collect screen views, feature interactions, subscription events, performance information, app and operating-system versions, and country or region inferred from an IP address.

We do not send PostHog your name, email address, precise GPS location, or saved weather history. We do not use PostHog for advertising, retargeting, or cross-app tracking. See the PostHog Privacy Policy.

6. What we do not do

Weather Diary does not:

7. Background data collection

The Application may use iOS Background App Refresh to collect weather observations when the app is not active. Scheduling is controlled by iOS and respects your Background App Refresh settings.

8. Data retention and deletion

Weather data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. You can delete collected weather data through the app’s settings. Because we do not store your weather history on our own servers, there is no server-side weather history for us to delete.

9. Subscription model

Weather Diary uses a freemium subscription model. Free users can access current weather, history, and standard analytics ranges. Pro unlocks extended analytics ranges and trend charts.

Your stored weather data is not deleted, hidden, or changed based on subscription status.

10. Children’s privacy

The Application does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, contact us.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access or delete data and opt out of certain processing. You can view weather data in the app, delete it through app settings or by uninstalling the app, and control location access in iOS Settings. Disabling location access will prevent location-dependent features from working.

12. International data transfers

We do not transfer saved weather history to our own servers. Apple, RevenueCat, and PostHog may process requests in different countries according to their infrastructure and privacy policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy by posting a revised version here, changing the effective date, and providing an in-app notice for material changes. Please review this page periodically.

14. Legal compliance

We aim to follow applicable privacy laws and platform requirements. Contact us if you have questions about how this policy applies to you.

15. Contact us

For privacy questions, concerns, or requests, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
